Fire Rated Doors

Fire ratings are a measure of how long a door can prevent the passage of flame and smoke from one side of the door assembly to the other. Fire doors are usually rated for 20, 45 or 90 minutes. Doors carry a specific label which is tightly constrained in a formal, written definition. Fire labels have stringent requirements and items such as glazing, applied molding, thickness, machining and other variables are closely controlled and may not be field modified.

Fire rated doors are available in a variety of makes and models. Door manufacturers may produce a labeled door slab, but the complete door system must also be rated: door slab, frame, hardware. Please check with your local Alliance branch for details (fire code may vary from one area to another.)
